Christ commanded his followers to not only love God, but to love their neighbors as they would themselves. “On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 22:40) Holy Apostles goes forth to show God’s love to our neighbors both within the parish itself, and within the community of the greater Birmingham area.
Our outreach ministries began early with the founding of the parish, and extend from here in Hoover, up to Woodlawn and across the Jefferson County region —
Other ministries are more concerned with the “fabric” of the parish itself, both physical and spiritual. Some of these ministries may also extend into areas of outreach, in less obvious ways; the Daughters of the King, for instance, take as part of their duty routine prayers for the welfare of the community and the world, and the Apostles with Fire help raise money for Episcopal Place with their annual participation in the diocesan Gumbo Gala. Many of Holy Apostles’ parishioners belong to several ministries, as they feel called by God and their abillities, thus offering up their time and talent as well as treasure. And they have a lot of fun in the process!
