Acolytes at Holy Apostles are youth and adults who are being part of the leadership in worship. As part of the Worship Ministry, the acolytes serve as assistants to the clergy during worship services. They lead the procession with the crucifix, gospel book and/or torches, and assist the Deacon and Priest at the Altar during the Eucharist. They may be assigned other assisting duties for special worship occasions.
The mission of the Acolytes is to support the clergy in worship to provide the members of the parish family with a meaningful, enriching, spiritual experience each time we gather to celebrate and worship God.
Youth (attentive, spiritually growing, and possessing the physical stature to safely carry the lighted torch) and adults (the same qualifications apply!) are encouraged to serve together in this meaningful ministry. Acolytes usually serve about once/month at the principal worship service on Sunday, and at other special worship services throughout the year.
Acolytes receive training for this ministry at least once each year. To learn more about or to join this ministry, please speak to Deacon Marti or Father Blake.
